"Basil's Brew" White Tea Blend: 4 oz. Tin (Organic)
A delicate, soothing, and invigorating blend of Chinese Silver Needle and White Peony teas, peppermint leaves, and wild Chinese chrysanthemum flowers. Silver Needle is the ultimate white tea, consisting simply of the delicate bud of the tea plant. Silver Needle is one of the rarest, finest, and most valuable teas in the world, harvested in the Chinese tea fields over a period of only two to three days each Spring. "Basil's Brew" brews to a light golden color. This is Basil the Rat's absolute favorite!
This blend is an Asylum original, and cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Chinese Silver Needle white tea, Chinese White Peony tea, American peppermint leaves, and wild chrysanthemum flowers from China.
All ingredients are Certified Organic (as well as Fair Trade whenever available), of the very highest quality commercially available, and hand-blended and packaged in small batches within the sterile Asylum kitchen by honest-to-goodness germaphobes.
Contains caffeine, though less than green or black teas.
Does not contain nuts, gluten, or animal products.
You will receive 4 ounces of tea measured by volume (actual weight of teas and herbs vary significantly, so we measure by volume, i.e. size of the tea tin).
A 4 oz. tin makes approximately 50-80 cups of tea (depending upon your brewing style).
Leftover tea? Soothe and cleanse your skin by toning it with this highly nutritional, naturally astringent (read: pore diminishing, oil-controlling, skin revitalizing) tea. Simply splash onto the face, or apply with a cotton pad. No need to rinse -- just let the antioxidants work their magic!
Use one heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz. of fresh spring water (or the best quality water you can obtain). Heat water to below boiling (160 - 170°f) and steep to taste (usually 1- 3 minutes), being careful not to over-steep (though you may simply add more water if you do). Tea may be used for several steepings, increasing steeping duration and temperature each time. Never use boiling water when brewing white teas.
"Basil's Brew" is also lovely over ice.
