About the Asylum:
The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls is a new virtual world based upon bipolar musician/author/performer/artist/composer Emilie Autumn’s best-selling historical fantasy novel of the same name, as well as the albums and international concert tours that the story spawned. The novel was originally written in red crayon during Emilie's incarceration in a maximum security psych ward following a suicide attempt, and her discovery of an alternate reality in 19th century England that mirrored her own experiences. The Asylum story both addresses mental health issues and champions the empowerment of women overthrowing the patriarchy and working together toward an enlightened society.
